SAVANNAH, GA – November 14, 2024 – The City of Port Wentworth Leisure Services Department will celebrate the holiday season with their inaugural Christmas Parade followed by the annual Tree Lighting ceremony and festivities on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Parade will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. beginning at the U.S. Sugar Refinery, located at 201 Oxnard Drive, and the Tree Lighting will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. behind Port Wentworth City Hall, located at 7224 Highway 21. The festivities are free to attend and appropriate for all ages.
Christmas Parade participants will decorate their entries in a Christmas theme, whether it is a float, classic car, marching band or other fun festive idea. Organizations, local businesses and residents across Port Wentworth and the surrounding areas are invited to join in the Parade at no cost. The parade entry deadline is Dec. 2. The Tree Lighting will be an evening of community spirit and free family fun. Attendees can plan for a children’s train ride, community vendors, children’s activity station including letters to Santa, and a screening of “The Polar Express” movie under the stars.
“It will be a day full of holiday cheer as we celebrate with our first ever morning Christmas Parade and evening fun,” said Tiffany Lancaster, the City of Port Wentworth’s Director of Leisure Services. “We cherish the joy of the season that these family events bring to our community.”
