COASTAL EMPIRE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PARTNERS WITH NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION TO HOLD SECOND ANNUAL “WOMEN BUILD MONTH” THIS MARCH

SAVANNAH, GA – February 22, 2024 – Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity and National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC) have partnered to present the second annual “Women Build Month” throughout the month of March this year. The month-long program helps further the nonprofit’s mission of creating a world where everyone has a decent and safe place to call home through attainable homeownership for working families.

“Women Build Month is a joint initiative for Habitat and NAWIC to encourage women to get out of their comfort zone, come into the community and into our build – we show you what to do,” said Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity Board Member Jennifer Roach. “It is another way of fulfilling our mission of building foundations, community, and hope for our region.”

Women Build Month will offer a wide variety of ways to participate, including assisting in Habitat build days, networking, social hours, raffles, and benefit nights. The festivities will kick off with the First Friday Women Powered Market from 6-9 p.m. on March 1 at Sulfur Studios, followed by a volunteer build day on March 2. NAWIC’s annual Women in Construction (WIC) Week will be from March 4-9. The two organizations have worked alongside each other for many years and decided in 2023 to expand Habitat’s Women Build Week into a full month of events to support the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

“Coastal Georgia NAWIC is excited to partner with Habitat once again this year. Expanding our activities from one week to a whole month allows our programming to empower women both inside and outside of the construction industry. It’s a great chance to try something new, reminding yourself you can do anything you set your mind to, all while helping a great cause,” said Jessica Leavitt Ouattara, NAWIC President.
