SAVANNAH CLASSICAL ACADEMY RECOGNIZED AS 2026 TITLE I DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL BY GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

RICHMOND HILL, GA – October 2, 2026–Savannah Classical Academy (SCA) has been recognized as a 2026 Title I Distinguished School by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). The Distinguished Schools designation recognizes the highest-performing Title I schools in Georgia and reflects the effective teaching and strong leadership demonstrated across the honored schools. This marks the third consecutive year SCA has earned the distinction and the third consecutive year it is the only Title I Distinguished School in Chatham County.

Title I Distinguished Schools are among the top 5% of Title I schools for overall performance, based on the combined English language arts (ELA) and math content mastery scores from statewide assessments during the 2024-2025 school year.

“Being recognized as a Title I Distinguished School for the third consecutive year is a tremendous honor and a testament to the consistency, dedication and hard work of our students, teachers and staff,” said SCA Chief Executive Officer Barry Lollis. “We are especially proud to once again be the only school in Chatham County to earn this distinction, which reinforces our commitment to providing a rigorous, high-quality classical education for every student we serve.”

SCA is a K-12 school which is open to all students residing in Chatham County, is funded with public funds as provided by a charter that allows it to operate autonomously under a board of parents and community members. It is the philosophy of Savannah Classical Academy that all students benefit from a rigorous, content-rich, educational program that develops academic potential and personal character. Significant superior scoring and recent accolades, including recognition as a Literacy Leader and Math Leader, demonstrate the excellent results of this approach. The school provides an environment that fosters academic excellence through the habits of thoroughness, the willingness to work, and the perseverance to complete difficult tasks. Through a defined traditional, classical curriculum, students are prepared to become active, responsible members of their community. The school is open to all students living in Chatham County via a lottery.
