SAVANNAH VOICE FESTIVAL CELEBRATES PARTNERSHIP WITH AMERICAN TRADITIONS THROUGH TWO FEATURED PERFORMANCES

SAVANNAH, GA – July 20, 2026 –As part of its 14th annual season, Sunny Days and Starry Nights, the Savannah VOICE Festival (SVF) is celebrating its longstanding partnership with the American Traditions Vocal Collection by showcasing artists connected through the prestigious Sherrill Milnes American Opera Award during a special performance this August. Audiences can experience these exceptional singers during “Queens of the Night” on Thursday, August 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 311 E. Harris Street in Savannah.

Over the years, the Savannah VOICE Festival and the American Traditions Vocal Collection have built a meaningful partnership centered on identifying, mentoring and showcasing exceptional talent. Through the Sherrill Milnes American Opera Award, presented annually during the American Traditions Vocal Competition, artists receive recognition that extends beyond the competition stage. The Savannah VOICE Festival provides these artists opportunities to continue sharing their talent with audiences, reflecting both organizations’ shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of great performers.

“Queens of the Night” celebrates the power and beauty of the soprano voice through performances by Sherrill Milnes American Opera Award recipients Liz Lang, Nia Drummond, and Kyaunnee Richardson, whose appearances reflect the ongoing collaboration between the Savannah VOICE Festival and the American Traditions Vocal Collection. This parade of beloved soprano repertoire features well-known American arias, as well as beloved songs, with dazzling displays of vocal virtuosity, with SVF’s own Justin Havard at the piano.

“Our partnership with American Traditions allows us to celebrate and support extraordinary artists beyond the competition stage,” said Torlef Borsting, Executive Director of the Savannah VOICE Festival. “We’re proud to welcome audiences to performances featuring singers whose talent has been recognized through the Sherrill Milnes American Opera Award while demonstrating the incredible versatility that defines the singers of today. Together, our organizations are creating meaningful opportunities for wonderful singers“
