THE SALVATION ARMY OF SAVANNAH ANNOUNCES 2022 SUMMER CAMP ADVENTURE FOR LOCAL CHILDREN

SAVANNAH, GA – April 4, 2022 – The Salvation Army of Savannah (TSA) has announced their new 2022 Summer Camp Program, “The Greatest Summer Camp Adventure,” from May 31 – July 29 hosted at the Community Center, 3000 Bee Rd, Savannah. This experience will give local children in the greater Savannah community a chance to have a fun summer in a safe and structured environment with enriching recreational activities and art projects.

The “Greatest Summer Camp Adventure” will give children access to the newly renovated gym and playground at the Community Center so they can play games and sports, but also participate in art projects and reading activities in the classrooms. The camp will also offer educational classes to allow students to practice their skills for the upcoming school semester. These activities connect back to The Salvation Army’s mission of “Doing the Most Good” in the community and staying true to their values of honesty, respect, collaboration, compassion, and integrity.

The camp is hosted by TSA’s educational assistants and summer camp counselors who undergo extensive training, including a CPR/First Aid class. The organization has COVID-19 protocols in place in accordance with the guidance and recommendations of public health officials such as temperature checks, handwashing, and social distancing in certain settings.

“We are so excited to be hosting this year’s summer camp adventure at our newly renovated Community Center! The kids are going to love the new gym where they can play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and just have fun. They can even play on our baseball fields to get some nice fresh air,” said The Salvation Army of Savannah’s Major Paul Egan. “Our summer camp program is designed to enhance children’s lives while they are out of school so they can continue learning and growing but have fun and make new friends and memories at the same time. Our professional counselors and assistants are trained to be able to support and look after the children during their time at camp. We look forward to hosting local children this summer for an exciting adventure!”

The one-time registration fee is $50 along with the $75 per week participation fee. Children do not have to sign up every week to join the camp. Fees include breakfast, lunch, and snacks throughout the day with healthy food options provided by TSA’s kitchen staff. To register, please contact TSACommunityadventures@gmail.com or call 912-352-7584.
